Spaces

We have five rooms reserved from 8:00-19:00:

...as well as the area outside the rooms, where we can socialize and eat.

Each room has a video projector, but make sure you bring any needed adapters to connect your laptop.

The public area outside the classrooms is open 24 hours a day, although the doors to this area will only be unlocked from 8:00-20:00. We pretty much have this whole area booked for the weekend, so campers can feel free to work late into the night in this non-classroom space if they want.

Power

Power outlets are few and far between (!) so if you plan on bringing a computer, it may be a good idea to also bring a power strip to share with others.

WiFi

The Stata Center, and all of MIT's campus, has a semi-open wifi network. If you are affiliated with MIT, you can just sign in. If you are not, you can sign in as a guest and you will have a wifi connection within 15 minutes. When logging in you'll see an option for "conference", which you should ignore (remember: BarCamp is an unconference).

Parking

Please see the bottom of MIT's Visitor Parking Page for a list of open lots and for information on public parking garages near MIT. There is an MIT lot with public parking at the corner of Vassar and Massachusetts Avenue that's open on the weekend.

There are also first come, first parked meters along Massachusetts Avenue, Vassar Street, and parking without meters or permits along Ames Street, Memorial Drive, and heading south on Vassar Street after the intersection with Mass Ave. Free parking is available elsewhere in Cambridgeport about a mile or so from MIT. Watch the signs: some of the parking has time limits. Bring lots of quarters.
